Habili Lory, Southern Sudan

Habili Lory, Southern Sudan

Video, 03:37 min, footage available at:info@diving-in-liquid-space.com
More infos at www.diving-in-liquid-space.com

In 2007, Captain Lorenzo Segalini of the italian liveaboard Donquesto discovered this place that was then named after him. Habili Lory is a huge reef that almost hits the surface. At 25 meter depth a plateau stretches into the open sea. The place to be!

Full of life, intensily packed with corals and coral fish, hovering around in huge schools and groups. Barracudas, Surgeonfish and clouds of juvenile youngsters.

This place is also a nursery for young silky sharks. Unfortunately also jemenite fisher men have discovered this place and apparently they finned some of the pelagic baby sharks. Even here, at a very remote area of the Red Sea, sharks are not safe anymore...

To avoid fishing as much as possible, buoys cannot be used at this place, for keeping the spot as secret as possible. Therefore, Skipper and diveguide by themselves have to fix the mooring line at appropriate (dead) reefspots to prevent any damage to this magnificent reef.

Filmed with Top Dawg II Housing, Camcorder Sony HDR-HC 7
Lighting Hartenberger Video mini
